While we are grateful for those who voted against this discriminatory proposal, we know that they need our help. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Hoosiers and their friends and allies must stand with the legislators opposed to HJR-6. We need to help them turn back this troubling and vindictive effort to change Indiana's constitution so as to forever brand discrimination and create a second class citizenry. If HJR-6 is enacted, it will mark the beginning of the end of any opportunity for LGBT residents of Indiana to truly experience equal rights.
This proposal is not only about same-gender marriage, but also about severely restricting future rights of all LGBT Hoosiers. The wording of this proposed constitutional amendment will prohibit any opportunity of civil unions, partnership tax incentives, and many other recognition rights.
Let your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and all Hoosiers know that we will not take NO for an answer.
